Guest Request Dr Catherine Shanahan
Catherine Shanahan is a medical doctor who bucks the system. She has written a few books with her husband who is a chef. You hear people say don't eat processed food but they don't tell you what to eat or teach you how to read labels. Dr Cate makes this simple.
I read two of her books. Dark Calories is the newest. This is mostly about seed oils. I also read Deep Nutrition. This one talks a lot about epigenetics is really good. The thing I found interesting about epigenetics is your grandmother could have smoked. Then even if your mother didn't smoke you would be much more likely to have asthma. Because epigenetics can turn things on and off depending on environment and the food you consume.
One of the topics I found very useful is insulin resistance. It helped me lose a great deal of weight. Understanding why snacking is bad and teaching what you can eat so you're not hungry all day.
She goes over the case that Sugar + Seed Oils = cancer
Cancer - Seed Oils & Sugar = no cancer
One of her books I think it was Dark Calories talked a lot about Dr Seyfried. A researcher that saw that mice with epilepsy stopped having seizures when they stopped feeding them sugars. He now helps a lot of people get over cancer by having them quit sugar. He shows cancer is a metabolic disease and not a genetics disease.
Her books talked a lot about Dr Gerhard Spiteller. A lipid scientist. She makes the case for why lipid scientists understand more than anyone else why we have heart attacks. Why Statins wont help not have a heart attack and will instead make you take 5 other pills and will lead to cancer.

Most of this is from memory and definitely not in her words. So take my summarization with a grain of salt. That reminds me she also talks about how salt isn't bad and you should season your food with lots of salt.
