public banking
Something I've been hearing a lot about lately that I think could be a good carlwood interview is the notion of a public bank. As I understand it North Dakota has a state run bank and that it is the only currently operating public bank in the country. To me it sounds like the notion is that a government could take all the money it receives in payments and taxes and use them as leverage to lend back to themselves through a fractional reserve model and thus multiply their financial power while also offering themselves lower interest rates and direct the lending habits in directions of their own choosing. It's a hot topic around here right now. I've heard an interview with Matt Stoddard (I'm not sure on the last name) from commonomicsUSA.org and he mentioned something called the Public Bank Institute. Then there seems to be a woman named Ellen Brown who has written some books. It would be great stuff I think
