Robin Hanson, author of "The Age Of Em"

Read this book (published in 2016) when it first came out & was blown away by it. Has a Sci-Fi vibe, but was written as a kind of "policy paper" (author is a legit/credentialed intellectual) which studies the ramifications of a near-future world (sometime in the next 100 years) in which people's minds are uploaded into computers. Including a TED talk & book review.
