I was hiking around today, out and about, and thinking how nice it is to see some semblance of normalcy now. We went out for breakfast at a full, mask-free restaurant. Lots of people were on the road to the beaches to enjoy the sunny weather. Fireworks stands had popped up in parking lots. I could almost close my eyes and feel the low key optimism I remember from just a few short years ago.
Was it the cooler weather, too? Or maybe the long holiday weekend and a welcome break from work that helped me feel better? No, I realize it was more than that:
