I'm a lifelong Okie, born in Logan Co and now living in Southeastern Oklahoma, near Lake Eufaula. I adore my state, it's climate, and it's attitude. Most Okie's don't mind if the "outside world" think's we're backwards, inbred, uneducated rednecks. That mean's you likely won't be showing up in droves to ruin my state anytime soon! So, shhhhhh...it's horrible here. Teepees and stuff. 😉
We did an AR/OK/TX trip this summer, looking around + college tour for our kids. Loved Eastern OK. Stayed in a few different places, including a condo up in Grove for a few days on the lake, just on your side of the border from Fort Smith AR, glamped in a teepee outside of OKC, toured OU, it was great. Very friendly place! Don't worry, I'll keep your secret. Our once-charming little city (Charleston SC) has been overrun in the last decade by NYC and Boston transplants. "Oh we love your city but its a little too southern in XX ways, lets change that". Ugh.
