La La Land: an ode to dreamers
Hey higherside chatters,
The other day I went to watch the film La La Land, directed by Damien Chazelle (Whiplash, 2014) and I just had to share it here because I thought it was a beautiful and inspiring movie. The kind that we don't often get to see in this day and age, especially from Hollywood. I wasn't sure to begin with but gave it a chance, boy I was in for a treat. The soundtrack alone, which shows how much Chazelle loves jazz, is worth seeing the movie. It deals with interesting concepts too, but I won't spoil it for you.
I just felt it refreshing to see an art form celebrating 'crazy' in a world where being a cog in the machine is the standard aspiration. Interestingly, Chazelle is allegedly working on a biopic of Neil Armstrong. Needless to say, I'm intrigued!
