If you believe that "magic" or "superhero" is found in books, you're not doing it right- as far as I'm concerned. Books will assist you, but you don't need them. Books teach me what somebody else's version of magic and superhero looks like. Thank you, those are some good ideas, but my superhero is gonna be mine.
I don't have to mix eye of newt and bat scrotum to call on Hecate to assist me in whatever magical endeavor I choose to undertake. I think what people don't get is that "look inside yourself" and "know yourself" are about learning to engage in the observation and study of you. Most people don't wanna hear that bullshit. They know they're not important. They know that if there was some magical key that unlocked their superpowers, it wouldn't be under their nose.

When I first started out I told myself I was going the psychic road- not the magic road. I kinda think it's all the same thing now, but there's an eye there toward style. No robes, no candles, no tomes, and no scheduling. If it can be done without those things, I want to know. I'm shootin for that.
The minds I respected most in magic, at the time, all said a magic wand was a dumbo feather. How much a that other shit is dumbo feathers? And how much of it is absolutely necessary?
Like astrology. Does belief trump alignment of planets? I wanna know. Planets sure seem to have an effect, but how much, really? What are the percentages there? If I feature it highly in my belief structure- do I become something of a slave to its rythyms? Can I have my ascension without all the scheduling? I'm gonna find out.
That having been said, on my "Friends To Make" list - right underneath Combat Engineer Turned Astrologer is Astrologer (Any). Just cause I don't wanna use it, don't make it not useful. The Law of Rythym is one of the 7 Hermetic Principles. There are few models I have taken and not modified and upgraded for my own use. The 7 Hermetic Principals remain untouched so far.
